The Indian Army recruits Agniveers through a two-phase selection process:
- Phase 1: Online Written Test (Computer-Based Test)
- Phase 2: Recruitment Rally including Physical Fitness Test (PFT), Physical Measurement Test (PMT), Adaptability Test, and Medical Examination
Recently, the Indian Army invited online applications from unmarried Indian male candidates under the Agnipath scheme to serve as Agniveers.
Agniveer Tenure and Career Progression
Selected Agniveers will serve for four years. Post completion, 25% of Agniveers will be selected for permanent enrollment in the Indian Army based on merit and organizational needs.
Indian Army Agniveer Selection Phases
Phase 1: Computer-Based Test (CEE)
- The Common Entrance Examination (CEE) will be conducted online.
- Admit cards will be issued, and candidates must appear at the designated exam centre.
- The CEE will consist of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).
- The number of questions and time will vary:
- 50 questions in 1 hour or 100 questions in 2 hours depending on the post applied for.
- Negative marking: 25% marks will be deducted for every wrong answer.
- Normalization of scores will be applied to ensure fairness across sessions.
Typing Test (for Office Assistant/SKT Posts)
- Candidates applying for Agniveer (Office Assistant/SKT) must qualify a typing test.
- Typing Speed Required: 30 words per minute (wpm) in English.
- Only those who qualify the typing test will proceed to Phase 2.
Phase 2: Recruitment Rally
Candidates shortlisted from Phase 1 will be called for Phase 2 and can download their admit card from the official website.
They must report at the rally venue with the following original documents and two attested photocopies:
- Admit Card
- Recent Photographs
- Education Certificates
- Domicile Certificate
- Caste Certificate
- Religion Certificate
- Character Certificate
- Unmarried Certificate
- Relationship Certificate (if applicable)
- NCC Certificate
- Sports Certificate
- PAN Card and Aadhaar Card
Physical Fitness Test (PFT)
Candidates must qualify in the following PFT parameters:

Note: Candidates applying for Agniveer (Technical) and Agniveer (Clerk/SKT) only need to qualify in these tests, no marks are awarded.
Physical Measurement Test (PMT)
Candidates who clear the PFT will undergo PMT. This will be conducted as per standards specified in the official notification at the rally venue.
Adaptability Test
All PFT-qualified candidates will undertake an objective-type Adaptability Test. This test checks the candidate’s suitability for service in various terrains, weather conditions, and operational areas.
Medical Examination
Candidates who qualify in PFT and PMT will be examined by an Army Medical Team.
- Unfit candidates will be referred to a Military Hospital (MH).
- They must report to the MH within 5 days of referral.
- MH will complete the review within 7 days, as per Indian Army policy.
